Hello citizens, how are you all? All good and in love I certainly hope. I’m writing you from an exit row window seat and feeling super inspired from a full weekend of teaching dance classes. There’s nothing like the feeling of teaching ready and willing students, especially when teaching is a strong running passion of yours. That very moment when you get to see someone that’s working hard at something experience their “lightbulb flickering” epiphany of the path of accomplishment.
As teachers, I believe we search for those moments 24/7, even when we aren’t at work. Certain things stand out. Like a very well explained dinner special from a waiter at a restaurant. Or a brightly colored story told with intricate details down to smell, taste, feeling, design, etc. Anything to help create a path for the mind to eagerly run down to see a sight for itself. These are the times when one realizes that though one is working selflessly for results, it’s bigger than than just self satisfaction. Of course he or she will feel self satisfaction, naturally, but the results have far exceeded only being a pat on the back. They have promoted growth.
A couple of the other instructors and I were talking this weekend about a world committed to strictly growth, strictly by giving and not consuming. Think about that for a second, think about what it would be like if everyone in the world was ONLY concerned with giving/providing. Meaning everyone would be in the same frame of mind that “what I have is enough. Now what can I give?”- forever. Will people imagine this world and come to the conclusion that they would not be doing anything remotely close to what they are doing now in the real world? What would your occupation be if it were solely, and voluntarily only to help provide? A cycle of giving and service. Time, energy, ears to listen, shoulders for crying. A cycle of devotion. No higher, no lower. Everybody in together.
While we are certainly human natured and we will do for us, our time here is SO MUCH BIGGER THAN JUST US. Your next step, your next sentence, has grand potential to change the course of history in ways you may never see until years later. So I urge you fellow citizens, that in the midst of doing you, momentarily take a step back and look at the grand scheme of things. Don’t be afraid or even opposed to doing random acts of kindness, knowing that a seed for the greater good has been planted……. whether you see the results right away or not. Just plant the seeds, water them with hope, and let the sunshine of faith and love do their thing.
Until next time citizens, let love lead.

Action and purpose
Can one exist at it’s epitome without the other?
This is the question that repeatedly ran through my mind this past birthday. Yes, it is odd that on my birthday that would be the repeated thought other than how plastered I’m ALLOWED to be on the special day, but I’ve found that with each year that passes, the more pensive & sentimental I seem to grow. Call it a tug of war between hanging on to “the good old days” and searching for anything to make every moment more memorable, but it’s happening and I’m not so mad at it.
The more thought and energy that I put into an answer the more I find, in my personal case, that the two must go hand and hand to be of their full potential. I guess this question comes about in deep reflection of my third decade of life, seeing as this is my last year in my twenties. Looking back at that headstrong, blonde haired kid that thought he had the world by the balls and nothing but time on his side, I can’t help but laugh and be proud of the journey. But through this journey, I remember certain moments of being heavy with purpose but taking no immediate action and vice versa. I remember times where I had such a clear picture on what, when, and why but did nothing about it. And times where I was DOING EVERYTHING I thought I could to move ahead, to expand my life into a deeper richness but had no clear vision of what that richness was or could be.
Finding the purpose for your life, the reason of your existence, the way you fit into the puzzle, opens an entirely new way of living, if you DECIDE TO LIVE ON THAT KNOWLEDGE. There is never a time when it’s too late to fulfill your calling. It’s yours! So no matter how long it takes you to get there, there are always accessible actions of making it happen. But what about the times when you are ready for action and the vision of purpose seems a bit foggy? Well, in my experience so far, it’s the action that has helped with that directly. There’s nothing like experiencing something first hand and being able to say to yourself “okay that’s not my thing” or “oh my God I loved that”. It’s going to be hard finding a purpose and vision if you are afraid to take risks. For me it was impossible. A journey is never accomplished by simply mapping out all possible routes. Sure it helps, but you must eventually take the steps and cover your distance.
So I encourage you, no matter what age you are, to act. Especially if you have a clear vision of where you want to be. GO! Even if the purpose is to just shake things up and change your scenery. Trust in your heart of hearts. It speaks with you everyday. It’s your mind that brings in that classic argument of fear and logistics, but in your heart you KNOW because you feel it. As the old saying goes, trust your gut. When there is a lil nervous energy about new ventures and decisions, embrace it. Change is often met with a bit of resistance and questions, but as you know it is inevitable. The seasons have an amazing relationship of acceptance with their changes each year, we should follow their example.
Let love lead. Until next time,
